Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is a nature conservation park administered by the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge.
We are located at 10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70810.
With a small donation fee (only $6 per adult), you can explore both indoor and outdoor exhibits of different live animals and education on the wildlife in the swamps/wetlands.
You can get familiar with a good number of wildlife during your little nature escape here in Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center!
But first… I have to warn you: if you are shy at heart with nature, this is not for you. You must be a serious adventurer! A lot of nature will definitely jump out at you!
You’ll love feeding all the turtles with your leftover cheerios. They are one of the favorite snacks for our many adorable turtle families here. They’ll love eating up your cheerios!
Have you ever seen a snuggling baby alligators? I assure you it’ll be the cutest thing you’ll ever see!
Don’t you dare to annoy the snakes! They are so busy molting their skin and they can be a little sensitive sometimes.
If you are lucky, you’ll also be able to see bird families taking their weekly bath. Birds are the most enthusiastic bathers! If you are cool, maybe a pretty starling with beautiful specks in its feathers will come and say hi! You’ll be enthralled by them chirping up a storm!
Nearly hundred types of insects exhibited (including some pretty gnarly spiders) can give you the heebie-jeebies! Be sure to be well-prepared!
Other different kinds of animals are also known to inhibit the site, including raccoons, rabbits, opossums, armadillos, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, deer and otter.
While taking a beautiful, refreshing swamp walk, make sure to take some pretty good pictures. Your cameras will be truly happy as well as you and your family will be!
